Celestial Alchemists is my original tarot collection exploring transformation, mythology, and cosmic symbolism through witches and their familiars. The work combines character illustration with a consistent card design and an evolving merchandise line.

FROM CONCEPT TO FOUNDATION...
I work outside the full vertical card shape from the start, solving the character, familiar, environment, and border as one composition.
Each composition needs to have true consistency in more than just art style.
The tone, the technique, the cultural reference; each needs attention and a balance to bring the character to life.
Just like we are made from our experiences, our characters, too, are shaped by our references.

After the concept is resolved, I rebuild the composition digitally; preserving detailed linework as the structure for palette, light, and atmosphere
Refine the drawing. Clarify overlaps, silhouettes, facial features, costume, and symbolic details.
Build the light. Working from the background forward; I build the design and flow with a selective color palette.
Complete the system. Finish atmosphere, frame, any and all additional elements for print-ready production.

A consistent visual signature
RECOGNITION
The crest, arched frame, navy field, ivory structure and gold edge create immediate collection recognition across cards.
The open central field gives each character and setting space to change while the surrounding geometry keeps the deck visually unified.

Building the template first turns a large illustration project into a repeatable production system.

The consistent template over all cards. This provides familiarity for each card.

Movement and focus
How the viewer reads the flow of the card is dependent on the meaning each card is supposed to evoke. Here a circular flow ties the card to constant, free, movement.
COLOR
Identity within the frame
Each card carries a limited color palette that pairs with its meaning and allows it to hold its own identity, even against other cards.
Typography
A consistent anchor
The title sits near the base, integrated with ornamental linework. Its repeated position gives each illustration a dependable reading point.
DESIGNED FOR MORE THAN A CARD...
Ethra, The Spirit Card, brings the collection into apparel through a small emblem and a larger illustration.
FRONT / BRAND RECOGNITION
BACK / ILLUSTRATIVE EXPRESSION
The compact gold emblem provides a restrained identifier that can repeat across the apparel collection.
The larger character artwork becomes the main visual. Its shaped silhouette adapts the illustration to the garment.
